ALLOY STEEL MANUFACTURER IN Ludhiana Punjab

What is Alloy Steel

Steel, being one of the most prominent materials, is used in various industries. There are around 3,500 different steel grades, and every grade offers unique environmental, chemical, and physical properties. Steel has gone through significant evolution, and in the past 20 years, around 75% of all different types of steel have been developed.

For the past five decades, Dhand Steels is one of the superior alloy steel manufacturers in Ludhiana. We are committed to providing the best products and meet all demands of our customers.

There are four groups based on chemical composition: stainless, carbon, tool, and alloy. In this article, we will be discussing alloy steel.

Alloy steel is a category of steel which undergoes alloying using different elements in levels between 1% and 5% in weight. These alloying materials enhance the physical and chemical properties of the alloy steel. It can be further classified into two types: high-alloy and low-alloy steels.

Alloy steels possess properties such as increased durability and higher corrosion resistance.

What are the Alloying Elements?

The alloy steel contains mostly iron and carbon levels, depending on the desired quality or grade of steel. However, to achieve more desirable characteristics, one or more elements with carbon can be added. There are more than 20 alloying elements that can be added to produce different alloy steel grades. Some elements, their effects and properties include:

  • Aluminium: get rid of phosphorus, sulphur and oxygen.
  • Chromium: Increases toughness, improved tensile strength, wear-resistance and is easy to bend and cut.
  • Copper: Increased resistance to corrosion
  • Manganese: wear resistance, increased surface hardness, ductility and high-temperature strength
  • Nickel: Corrosion and Oxidation resistance, increased toughness and strength
  • Silicon: Increases magnetism and tensile strength
  • Tungsten: Adds hardness and strength and provides heat resistance. Improved gain structure.
  • Vanadium: Increases corrosion and shock resistance and adds strength and toughness.
  • Cobalt: Used to make cutting tools, improved hot and red hardness
  • Molybdenum: Increases strength and enhances shock and heat resistance.

As a preferred alloy steel manufacturers in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Dhand Steels provides round and hexagonal alloy steels in the size range 10mm – 105mm.

What are the properties of Alloy Steel?

To meet the demands of different industries across the Globe, Dhand Steels, alloy steel manufacturers in India, provides allow steel of top-notch quality possessing the following properties:

Resistance to Corrosion

Alloy steel is an excellent corrosion-resistant material. The alloying materials such as  Copper, Nickle, Vanadium, etc., make it more resistant to corrosion and improve its machinability. Due to low corrosion resistance, the life span of the alloy steel increases.

Hardness:

Alloy steel with high carbon content provides increased hardenability at high temperatures.

Tensile Strength:

Alloy Steel comprising chromium, silicon, etc., has increased tensile strength. Because of this, it can resist tearing due to tension and provide better mechanical performance.

Toughness:

Different elements like nickel and vanadium in the alloy steel provide increased toughness. This results in improved resilience and enhanced performance.

Weldability:

Alloy steel possesses high weldability. It is due to the presence of carbon in the alloy steel. Due to this property, we can join dissimilar materials for higher efficiency.

Ductility

Alloy steel can easily deform without fracture. However, it depends upon the alloying elements used to manufacture the steel. Elements like Manganese provides increased ductility of alloy steel.

Cost

Alloy steel is very cost-effective. However, it depends on the elements used to produce the alloy steel.
